Another Zoo Trip and PHC at Ravinia

Another trip to the zoo!  This time they were not that excited about seeing anything and kind of cranky.

Here they are eating lunch in front of the rhinos.  I like to find a bench in front of an animal exhibit to eat lunch instead of eating at a designated eating area.  It is way more fun and interesting.  However, they kept getting scared of one of the rhino's because it kept getting close to the fence which was not expected because they usually love the big animals.

They were basically not interested in anything until we got to the frogs!  I could not get them away from there for a while.  Like mother, like daughters :)

Addison in front and Caroline in back.

Watching the dolphins while having a snack.  They LOVE watching the dolphins in the under water viewing area.  It usually take a while to get them to move on to something else.  This was the first time back to watch the dolphins after the traumatic above water show splashing incident and it took some convincing before they would go down there but I am really happy they did!

Over the last several years it has become our family tradition to listen/watch NPR's Prairie Home Companion at Ravinia plus a few more friends that join us.  This is  Garrison Keillor's last year so this was our last opportunity to go and hear/see him.  It was a great time as always!

Garrison Keillor walked around singing before the show started.

He happened to keep moving straight for where I was standing and I felt super awkward taking this picture since he was right in front of me.

If you look at the bottom of his shoe you will find it is falling apart a little.  I just liked the idea that he doesn't feel the need to update his shoes.  I also liked that he was wearing a very neutral suit with red shoes.

If you have never been to Ravinia this picture gives you a good sense of what it is about.  You can see the pavilion in the back where you can get seats because that is where the performance is held.  You can also get lawn seats and bring along food and drinks while you and listen to the performance.  There are also jumbo screens that you can watch too but a lot of the lawn has either limited or no view of them.  Your best bet is to sit in the pavilion if you want to actually watch the performance.

Precious Lucia.

The husband :)

Oh Linnea!  I wonder what Cam and Jed were talking about.

Oh dad!  Always goofing around and making us laugh!

Sisters

Family fun!  Though, Lucia does not look like she is having fun in that moment.

Me and Scott

And then my dad started taking pictures of the fire hydrant.  Still not sure what he was trying to capture but he took a lot of pictures.

At one point he wanted to see if I could get the hydrant with the light in the background.

Here is what he was getting

And to conclude this series, a picture of the hydrant and Scott.  So random!
